I would expect the oceans to warm over time.
If there were no water in the oceans, and one were to view the earth from space, the most prominent feature would be the massive mid-ocean ridges. The earth would look like a baseball, with huge stitches. The continents would pale by comparison.
These mid-ocean ridges are volcanic--in fact the oceans of the world are filled with volcanos and vents and hotspots--which should warm the ocean from below.
